1. VSSC
Vikram Sarabhai Space Center Thiruvananthapuram

Role & Overview:

VSSC is the lead center of ISRO for the design and development of launch vehicles (rockets) and associated technologies.

If you join here as a Scientist/Engineer, you may work on propulsion, stage systems, structural design, safety, etc.

Salary / Pay Scale:

For Scientist/Engineer‑SD (Level 11): Basic pay ~ ₹67,700/month (pay matrix 67,700–2,08,700) according to ISRO norms.

For Scientist/Engineer‑SC (Level 10): Basic pay ~ ₹56,100/month (pay matrix 56,100–1,77,500) for many recent recruitments.

Benefits: Dearness Allowance (DA), House Rent Allowance (HRA), Transport Allowance (TA), medical facilities, subsidized canteen, etc.

Note: The “basic pay” is just the starting figure; total compensation will be higher once allowances are included.

Age / Upper Limit:

For Scientist/Engineer‑SD: Up to 35 years (for UR category) as per ISRO norms.

For Scientist/Engineer‑SC: Often up to 30 years (UR), as recent VSSC recruitments show.

2. URSC
U R Rao Satellite Center, Bengaluru

Role & Overview:

  • URSC is primarily responsible for the assembly, integration, and testing of satellites in ISRO’s satellite program.

  • Engineers & scientists here may work in fields like structures, thermal systems, power, control, satellite integration, test & launch support.

Role & Overview:

  • SAC focuses on satellites for remote sensing, communications, meteorology, earth observation etc.

  • Roles include image processing, GIS, data analytics, satellite payload design, etc.

  • For Scientist/Engineer‑SC: Basic pay ~ ₹56,100/month (Level 10) in many recent recruitments.
